| who is michael guggenheimer? › qui est michael guggenheimer? › wer ist michael guggenheimer? Michael Guggenheimer has a broad network of connections within the Swiss arts and culture scene. He works as a writer, publisher and photographer, conducts literary and architectural city tours in Zurich, and is a moderator at events focusing on literature, design and cultural policy issues. He teaches creative writing and literature at several adult education institutions and was appointed to the programme committee of the Solothurner Literaturtage, Switzerland’s most important literature forum, in 2008. Michael Guggenheimer went to school in Tel Aviv, Amsterdam und Zug (Switzerland). After studies in Contemporary History and Social Psychology, he worked as a newspaper editor in St. Gallen, then joined «Migros-Kulturprozent», one of Switzerland’s largest cultural sponsors, where he worked for seven years on the public relations team. For 13 years, he was head of communications at Pro Helvetia, the Swiss Arts Council, in Zurich. He co-founded Amnesty International’s eastern Switzerland branch and is a founding member of the «Verlagsgemeinschaft St.Gallen» (St. Gallen publishing cooperative). His experience as an editor includes six years with the health magazine «Intact» and his role as chief editor of the tri-lingual cultural magazine «Passages» during his years at Pro Helvetia. He was also responsible for the Arts Council’s presence at the «Salon du livre et de la presse» in Geneva and at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In June 2007, Michael Guggenheimer was awarded the Europe medal of the European City Görlitz/Zgorzelec for his work on behalf of this German-Polish twin city. |
